Matrix
The URZ provides a chat platform based on the decentralized Matrix protocol. Similar to the e-mail system, you need a client program to access the chat server.
The system offers the following functions:
- Any clients that speak Matrix can be used
- Encrypted connection between client and server
- End-to-end encryption is standard in 1:1 conversations and (group) rooms
- Differentiated communication possible: from personal communication to group-based and topic-specific applications
- the system can also be used to exchange sensitive data (this is strongly discouraged when using external services such as Skype)
- the system is integrated into the worldwide Matrix network
The URZ recommends the use of the client program Element, which is available both for the desktop and as a mobile version. The URZ also provides an Element web client.
