Helpful functions of Zoom
- Share screen: Zoom allows you to share the entire screen or individual windows, e.g. to present slides. A prerequisite for screen sharing is the installation of the Zoom Desktop Client.
Breakout rooms: Allow you to set up subrooms for working in smaller groups during a Zoom video conference.
Whiteboard: Zoom's whiteboard function allows you to create notes together with participants. If being used with a tablet, it can also be done by hand (blackboard substitute).
Surveys: The poll function allows you to create questions with one or more choices for your meetings. You can start the survey during your meeting and collect responses from your participants.
Use of the meeting room without host: If you want the course participants to be able to use the meeting room before you join as the course instructor or if you cannot attend the meeting at all, activate the button "Allow participants to join before host" in the settings screen when scheduling the meeting under "Advanced options". If you want participants to be able to continue using the meeting room without you at the end of the event, click on "End meeting" at the bottom right of the screen and select "Leave meeting" in the window that appears.
Virtual background: Allows you to choose a neutral or custom background that will be shown behind your own face.
