Extensions
This feature allows you to automatically filter emails using a special extension in an email address. This enables, for example, fully automatic sorting by sender.
Using this feature is very straightforward and is explained in the following example. A user has the email address max.mustermann@uni-greifswald.de. Whenever this email address is entered, it is simply extended with the plus sign +. No adjustments are required in the email system or anywhere else. This means that, amongst others, all of the following email addresses are perfectly valid, and emails sent to these addresses will arrive in the user’s inbox:
- max.mustermann+AG1uni-greifswaldde
- max.mustermann+VerlagXuni-greifswaldde
- max.mustermann+Newsgroup@uni-greifswald.de
This feature really comes into its own when combined with Sieve filters on the mail server.
