KeePassXC: Create TOTP Code

To retrieve the TOTP code for a database entry in KeePassXC, follow the instructions below. 

Please note that the TOTP code displayed is valid for a maximum of 30 seconds.

Step by step

  1. Select your account’s database entry.
  2. Right-click on the database entry or select “Entries” from the menu.
  3. Under “TOTP”, select the menu option “Show TOTP”.
  4. A six-digit code is now regenerated every 30 seconds. If you still have enough time, click “Copy”; otherwise, wait a moment until a new code is displayed.
  5. Return to the website where you wish to log in.
  6. Paste the code into the “TOTP Code” or “Code” field (CTRL + V).
  7. Confirm the TOTP code by clicking the “Confirm” or “Continue” button.
