Setup email on android devices

To set up the email service successfully on an Android device, the following requirements have to be fulfilled:

• The device must have internet access (see, Wi-Fi / eduroam).
• You must have a valid and active user account / functional account (see: Central User Account).

This guide demonstrates how to set up an email account on an Android device using the K-9 Mail email client as an example.

1. Once installed, open “K-9 Mai”’ on your device.
2. Tap “Next” to begin the manual setup.
3. Enter your email address and the corresponding password.
4. Under “Account type?”, select “IMAP”.
5. In the “Incoming server settings” section: Change the “Security type” to “STARTTLS”.
6. In the “Outgoing server settings” section: Change the “Security type” to “STARTTLS”.
7. Finally, configure the local email account with your personal details (URZ username, app password, account name and sender name).
8. Done.
