Expiration of the easyroam profiles

Access to eduroam via easyroam is based on profiles that are valid for 24 months.

In the last 14 days before a profile expires, you will receive a daily e-mail with the exact dates on which your profile will expire. At this point, you should take action and renew the profile concerned.

Once you have done this, you will probably continue to receive the aforementioned expiry warning. This is due to the fact that a manual profile renewal (without using the easyroam app) only creates a new profile but does not delete the old one. To stop receiving the expiry warnings, you have two options

  1. Ignore these e-mails, as they are only sent for 14 days (after which the profile has expired and you will no longer receive a warning) or
  2. You log in to the easyroam portal and delete the affected profile prematurely.

Renewal and replacement of easyroam profiles

easyroam-App (Windows, Android, iOS)

Open the easyroam app on your device. Tap your current profile (the ‘More information’ button). Then click on New Profile. If you encounter any problems, please check whether an update for the app is available. This can be downloaded from www.easyroam.de after logging in with your central user account. If you still encounter problems with the renewal, please reinstall the profile in accordance with the relevant documentation.

Manual profile renewal

For devices where profiles are installed manually (older versions of Android, macOS, Ubuntu/Linux, ChromeOS), please follow the same procedure as if you were setting up a new profile.
